Sanrio Digital is responsible for the expansion of Sanrio intellectual property assets into various digital and online media. The company leverages an extensive library of original material that includes world-famous brands (such as Hello Kitty, Badtz-Maru, My Melody) as well as other IP assets that have not yet been fully digitally developed. Sanrio Digital holds exclusive rights to produce offline products based on its online productions, which creates synergy between the Sanrio traditional offline business and the digital venture.
ABOUT SANRIO WAVE
Sanrio Co., Ltd. founded Sanrio Wave Hong Kong Co., Ltd. in 2000 after Sanrio (H.K.) Co., Ltd. was founded in April 1994. While Sanrio HK focused on the traditional character merchandise business, Sanrio Wave HK has the unique mission to create and distribute the original Sanrio contents / entertainment business throughout Asia, and eventually on a global scale.
Sanrio characters have always been among the most wanted content requested by mobile content providers and telecom operators. With a mobile content distribution network that is expanding, Sanrio Wave works with most major telecom networks in Asia directly or through local content providers. To further develop its content business, Sanrio Wave also produces original publications.
In October 2006, Sanrio HK was absorbed into Sanrio Wave HK to further extend its mission to be the regional hub to become an all rounded company with strong integration of online and offline services, merchandise and content.
